Printing onto Acetate

Updated: Dec 6, 2022

There are two ways you can print your work onto acetate. You can either choose to print directly from your computer or you can choose to photocopy your work onto acetate. Please click on one of the options below to begin.

Photocopying onto Acetate:

Watch the video below to find out how to photocopy your work onto acetate or follow the written guide below.

Written Guide:

To photocopy your work onto acetate, we will need to use 'Device Functions' on the printer.

Take your work and a sheet(s) of acetate to a college printer. Place your work in the scanner, make sure the work is face down. Place your sheet of acetate on the MP Tray.

Tap your ID card on the card reader of the printer to login and select 'Device Functions'

Click on 'Paper Selection' and choose your paper size (A4 or A3). Then select 'Paper Set' and then 'Media Type'. To print onto acetate, please select 'Transparency'.

Enter how many copies you would like, and press 'Start' on the printer.

Printing onto Acetate from a Windows PC:

Written Guide:

Firstly, open up the image on your computer that you would like to print onto acetate. Go to 'File' and then 'Print'. Select either 'KMFP Colour' or 'KMFP Black and White'.

Underneath the selected printer, click on 'Printer Properties'. Select 'Media type' and then in the dropdown menu select 'Transparency'. Once you have got those settings, select 'Print'. (see example below below)

You are now ready to retrieve your printing! Please click here to follow the next step.

Mac:

If you are on a Mac computer, start by opening the file you would like to print and select 'File' then 'Print'.

Choose either KMFP Black and White or KFMP Colour. Then select 'Show Details.'

Select 'Preview' to open a drop-down menu. In the drop-down menu, select 'Print Panel' to change the media type.

When the print panel is open, select 'Settings'. Click on 'media type' and in the drop-down menu, please select 'Transparency'.

You are now ready to retrieve your printing! Please click here to follow the next step.

Retrieving the Printing:

Please go to a printer in the college, make sure you have a sheet of acetate with you!

Login to the printer by tapping your ID Card on the card reader, then you will be able to see your queued print jobs. Select 'Print All' to release your job.

Open the multi-purpose (MP tray) in the printer, this is located on the side of the printer. (see the example below)

If you are printing A4 then leave the tray as it is, if you are printing on A3 please make sure you pull the tray out further, you will hear a click when it is done. This is so the printer recognises that you are printing onto A3. If you do not do this, the printer will assume you are printing on A4, and this will cause the printer to jam.

- If this does happen, please seek assistance from a member of the Learning Centre team.

Place the sheet of acetate on the MP tray. Check the paper size matches the size on the printer screen, and then press 'continue'.

If you have any problems, please speak to a member of the Learning Centre team, we will be happy to help!
